Fischer writes about women in traditionally male roles, about underdogs and outsiders. She writes small, character stories in grand worlds, and is fascinated by the limitations that impede us or push us to become more than we thought we could be.

Giving into her fantasy and science fiction roots, she looks to find ways to bring immense scale to the stories of people struggling to figure out who they are and where they fit in.
